WHAT WE BELIEVE
A firm built on a resignation and a point of view.
HWA was founded by someone who spent years at a top-tier global consulting firm doing work that was sold as "finding efficiency." It wasn't. It was shipping American jobs overseas and calling it progress.
A leave of absence became a resignation because small business owners don't have $100k for a fancy strategist and a slick PowerPoint. They need a no-nonsense plan. They need someone who will walk into a bank and defend their numbers. Someone who fights for them the way the big guys fight for their Fortune 100 clients.
Compliance isn't just about getting it right on your end. Sometimes it's about catching the other side getting it wrong. An insurance company audited one of our clients and came back with a $20,000 workers' comp bill. We corrected their work line by line and got that number to $6,000. That's knowing the rules better than the people enforcing them.
That's the standard HWA was built on. Not the standard of the firms we came from, the standard our clients deserve. The knowledge belongs to everyone. The implementation is where we come in.

FOUNDER, CEO + ACCOUNTANT
Heather built HWA on a simple premise: small businesses deserve the same caliber of financial expertise as the Fortune 500, and they shouldn't have to pay Fortune 500 prices to get it. With over a decade of experience across industries, including time at a top-tier global consulting firm, she founded HWA to give business owners, self-employed professionals, and growing families a true partner, not just a once-a-year tax appointment. She specializes in helping clients who need more than accurate books. They need someone who understands their goals, their risks, and their community and who shows up for them all year long.
Berta Perez
SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Berta holds a B.S. in Accounting and is pursuing her CPA license. She's worked with more than a dozen Fortune 500 companies on accounting, finance, and fraud prevention and she brings that institutional knowledge directly to HWA's small business clients. She's passionate about helping business owners get real clarity and control over their finances.
Outside work: weightlifting and hunting down new local restaurants worth knowing about.
Tricia Smith
SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Thirty years of accounting experience across corporate, nonprofit, small business, and healthcare. Tricia has seen nearly every financial situation a business can find itself in and she's solved most of them. She brings particular depth in financial analysis, process improvement, and the kind of research-driven problem solving that catches what others miss.
Outside work: family, genealogy deep dives, travel, and lifelong learning.
Katherine Mulcahy
SENIOR ACCOUNTANT, CPA
Katherine is a CPA with over 25 years across accounting and finance in a wide range of industries. Her focus is simple: keep the books in order so business owners can keep their eyes on the business. That clarity, month after month, year after year, is what makes everything else possible.
Outside work: cooking, baseball (Braves), and football (Jaguars).
Tabatha Campbell
BOOKKEEPER
Fifteen years across bookkeeping, AR/AP, payroll, tax prep, and data management. Tabatha's range means she's rarely handed a situation she hasn't navigated before. She's focused on using financial data to help businesses run more efficiently, not just more accurately.
Outside work: family, gardening, four-wheeling, and fishing.
